Monday, January 19th, was an incredibly busy day for the Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company.
Around 11:00 a.m., our crews rushed to an apartment building fire in Pikesville, where smoke was already pouring from the roof. Firefighters immediately pushed inside and found a heavy fire burning in a basement storage room. As smoke filled the building, our team heard cries for help from the upper floors. Firefighters safely guided three residents down from a smoke-logged third-floor stairwell, while other crew members raised ladders to rescue three more residents trapped on a second-floor balcony. Working alongside neighboring companies, the fire was quickly brought under control.
The day wasn't over yet. Around 7:30 p.m., PVFC was called out again to assist with a massive, multi-alarm fire at a high-rise apartment building in Towson. With flames spreading through several units and numerous residents trapped, our firefighters worked urgently to rescue multiple occupants from the building.
We are incredibly proud of our volunteers for their quick actions and dedication during a challenging day of saving lives.
