      • Master Essential Life-Saving Skills

This is where your transformation begins. We provide the highest quality training for free, administered by the Maryland Fire Rescue Institute (MFRI), to give you the skills to save lives.

        • Semester Schedule: Classes are offered in the spring and fall, meeting two evenings a week and one full day on the weekend.
        • Accelerated Option: Ready to dive in? Intensive summer "crash" courses allow you to fast-track your training by attending daily classes.

Over 207 hours for EMT certification or 135 hours for Firefighter certification, you'll earn credentials that open doors and equip you for most emergencies. Be aware this training is comprehensive and requires committed attendance.

      • Gain Hands-On Experience

Becoming a volunteer means more than just taking a class; it means becoming a working member of our emergency team from day one. We ask for a commitment of at least 30 hours per month — and this time is packed with purpose:

        • Ride Along Immediately: Even before your formal training is complete, you'll gain crucial insight by riding the ambulance or fire engine, seeing real-world calls in action.
        • Grow Your Expertise: Participate in regular in-house training drills to perfect your skills alongside seasoned veterans.
        • Continue the Legacy: Be a vital part of our success by attending company meetings and helping with firehouse-sponsored community events and fundraisers.
