      Confined Space Team Responds to Unique Rescue

      It was a highly technical, high-stakes rescue for members of the Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company on January 30th.

      PVFC’s specialized Confined Space Rescue Team, alongside multiple Baltimore County units and the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Go Team, rushed to Cockeysville where a worker was trapped waist-deep inside an elevated sand hopper.

      Working carefully under dangerous, restrictive conditions, rescue crews successfully extracted the worker from the hopper. Remarkably, the individual was able to walk away from the incident, declining further medical treatment or transport.

      Incidents like this are exactly why PVFC's Confined Space Rescue Team trains rigorously with special operations personnel from across the Baltimore region. When every second counts in a highly hazardous environment, that constant preparation pays off.
