      PVFC Responds to First-Due,

      3-Alarm Apartment Fire

Shortly after 3:30 pm on Thursday, August 14, 2025, as thunderstorms and heavy rain began to hit the area, Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company Engine 321,Tower 323 and Ambulance 325 were alerted with other Baltimore County westside units for a reported fire in the rear of a building in the 1800 block of Rambling Ridge Lane at the Twin Ridge Apartments complex (Fire Box 14-27). Baltimore County Fire Department Engine 14 arrived and reported heavy fire conditions from all floors in the rear of a 3-story apartment building with fire venting through the roof and requested a 2nd alarm. Tower 323 arrived just after Engine 14 and positioned the apparatus at the front of the fire building. Tower 323 firefighters positioned several portable ground ladders on Side Alpha and the crew headed inside to search apartments for potential victims, where they were met with heavy heat and fire conditions and joined by Engine 321's crew. As firefighters arrived, several hoselines were placed in service to control and extinguish the fire, which caused a collapse of a balcony and stairs, and prevent it from spreading to the attached building next door. EMS personnel from Ambulance 325 were among the crews assigned for Rehab and medical evaluation of firefighters after they exited the structure. Firefighters rescued multiple pets, including at least 5 dogs, from apartments, but sadly one dog perished in the fire. The Baltimore County Fire Investigation Division is investigating the cause of the fire, which officials said might have been caused by a lightning strike. PVFC crews operated on the scene for nearly five hours.
