On the evening of February 9th 2010 Pikesville VFC Squad 322 along with other westside units responded to box 33-3 for the report of a dwelling fire with rescue. A Working Fire Dispatch was called for while units were responding due to a large column of smoke visible from stations 3 and 33. Upon arrival BCoFD Engine 3 (Woodlawn career) advised that they had a 1-story dwelling with heavy fire showing. BCoFD Truck 13 (Westview career) arrived shortly thereafter and initiated a search to find the victim who had possibly returned inside her dwelling. Upon Squad 322’s arrival crew members went to the roof to start ventilation. Due to the heavy snow conditions and compromised integrity of the roof from fire damage, crews were quickly ordered to evacuate the roof. In the meantime an aggressive interior attack and search was initiated and Engine 3’s crew was able to knock down the fire while Truck 13 removed the victim from the front of the house. The victim was in cardiac arrest and was pronounced DOA on the scene. The owner’s dog was also found deceased inside the house.
